Christmas in the Adobes is Monterey's signature holiday event. It's a two night open house of most of the historic adobe buildings in and around Downtown Monterey. In this holiday themed two night affair, you get the opportunity to explore the history of Monterey through a self guided walking tour of its historic buildings. Some of the historic buildings are privately owned and only open to the public during Christmas in the Adobes.
Entertainment and refreshments are served along the way and docents in period dress welcome you with tales from Monterey's eventful past. Christmas in the Adobes raises funds for Monterey State Historic Park children's educational programs.
This year, our photographer traveled almost the entire route of 23 adobes in one night to take photos to show the event in all of its splendor.
