Immediately after the 2016 July 4th Parade, Monterey State Historic Park volunteers dressed in historic costumes and took visitors back in time in and around Custom House. There were numerous interactive exhibits designed to educate kids about what life was like in the Monterey area in the 19th century. You could learn the fandango, make rope, play traditional games, practice leather craft, receive instruction in military drill, watch a blacksmith demonstration, and more. Photos by Sheldon Chang.
