WG Library: Poetry Reading by Nancy Fowler
This event has already passed
Willow Glen Library and Poetry Center San Jose are pleased to present Nancy Fowler, who will read from her work. An open mic reading will follow. All are welcome to bring a poem of their own or by a favorite poet to share.
Nancy Fowler came late to poetry, after a career which included writing detailed, logical reports on various aspects of public policy in local government in San Jose. Workshops with former Poet Laureate of Santa Clara County, Sally Ashton, created an awareness that metaphor, abbreviation, and non-linear writing, tossed in with surprising use of language, presented a mental challenge to fend off advancing years.
Nancy was born in Cambridge, MA, educated in the Midwest and in California, the latter where she spent the majority of her years, and has lived for the last nine years in Port Townsend, WA. She was an early member of Poetry Center San Jose. Both travel and hospice work have informed a number of her poems, which have been included in various small literary journals. Her chapbook, Offerings, was published in 2014.
