Monterey Yoga Shala presents a Spinal Release Yoga Workshop on Saturday, March 7, 1:30pm-3:30pm, taught by Elaine Oyang. Please register in advance here.
Our spine and pelvis are a central part of our being. Together, they allow us to stand upright, protect our spinal cord and important reproductive organs, and allow for a wide range of motion through the trunk of our body.
This workshop is an introduction to Spinal Release Yoga (SRY), a restorative form of yoga therapy that comprise of strategic and nonconventional forms of yoga asanas to effectively release deep muscles attached to the spine and pelvis. The concept of SRY is constructive rest to allow these deep, persistently tight muscles to return to their neutral, relaxed state.
Elaine Oyang is an IAYT-Certified Yoga Therapist, and has been teaching yoga for over 8 years. Since 2011, she has accumulated more than 1000 hours of training and hundreds of clinical hours as a yoga therapist.
Elaine specializes in restorative style yoga therapy (Spinal Release Yoga) to help clients manage chronic pain and fatigue. Her specialty focuses on nurturing the nervous system in order to resolve symptoms at deeper levels and rejuvenate from within.
