The New Almaden Mine produced mercury beginning in 1845, making it California’s oldest mining operation. Quicksilver was the leading reduction agent for gold and silver until the discovery of the cyanide process. the mines at New Almaden produced more fortune than any California gold mine in history.
Come learn about the amazing history and the unique geology of the area.
This event occurs inside the Carriage House, next to the historic Ainsley House. Doors will open at 5:30 pm.
Light appetizers and beverages will be served.
The presentation will begin at 6 pm.
