This fascinating history book explores the lives and works of hidden women composers, including three composers featured in Baroque and Unknown's special concert series beginning October 3 at Wendi Kirby Music. Don't miss this chance to explore the untold stories of remarkable women composers.
Guests are encouraged to purchase and read the book in advance, but if you don't have time to read it, don't worry! We'll share key details during the session.
About the Book
Since the birth of classical music, women who dared compose have faced a bitter struggle to be heard. Even today, much of their work languishes unheard.
In Sounds and Sweet Airs, Anna Beer reveals the highs and lows experienced by eight female composers across the centuries, from Renaissance Florence to twentieth-century London, restoring to their rightful place exceptional women whom history has forgotten.
