MIIS Talk by Alana DeJoseph, "Exploring the Peace Corps Legacy"

Middlebury Institute of International Studies hosts "Celebrating the Past and Embracing a Sustainable Future: Exploring the Peace Corps Legacy," a presentation by filmmaker and Peace Corps alumna Alana DeJoseph on Thursday, April 17 at 6pm at Irvine Auditorium in the McCone Building on the campus of MIIS. Join MIIS for an inspiring evening with Alana DeJoseph, the acclaimed director of the Heartland Emmy Award-winning documentary "A Towering Task: The Story of the Peace Corps." (See the film on April 14 at Irvine Auditorium!)

Tonight, Alana will delve into the rich legacy of the Peace Corps, highlighting its profound impact on international development. Drawing from her documentary, she will explore the themes of sustainability and the future of global development, especially in light of recent challenges such as the reduction of USAID funding.

This event will not only celebrate the past achievements of the Peace Corps but also inspire us to envision and work towards a sustainable future. The evening will culminate in a bell dedication ceremony and reception at 7pm, celebrating the MIIS’s 10-year partnership with the Peace Corps.

About Alana DeJoseph

Born in Munich, Germany, to a German mother and an American father, Alana DeJoseph has been involved in film and video production since she was 10 years old, lending her voice to many film and TV productions. After graduating from Washington and Lee University and spending two years in Mali, West Africa with the Peace Corps, Alana specialized in producing, directing, videography, and editing. She is the director of the film "A Towering Task: The Story of the Peace Corps."
