On Tuesday, July 27, 2021, Monterey Public Library and the California History Room are reopening their doors at 625 Pacific Street in Downtown Old Monterey. Hours will be Tuesday - Saturday, 10am-6pm, and Library Sidewalk Service will continue, 10am-12pm. We can't wait to see you!
You’ll see some familiar faces when you walk inside, but much has changed as well. Your safety, and the safety of staff, is our top priority.
New safety measures include:
* Masks are required to keep everyone safe, especially our youngest readers.
*Fewer computers and chairs, to avoid overcrowding.
*Outside air intake and air filtering systems have been maximized.
*Hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes available throughout the building.
*Programs remain online or outdoors, and use of meeting rooms is on pause.
*A patron app gives you the option to borrow items without stopping at the desk or doing self-checks.
Regarding the California History Room: for extensive research inquiries, to arrange a class visit, or to view archival materials (including photographs, maps, and locked-case books), please schedule an appointment with Sean Briscoe at 831-646-2091.
