Old Capitol Books hosts a reading and book signing by local philosopher Robert Kuhry on Sunday, January 21 at 3pm. Kuhry's new book is entitled Awake in the Land of Dreams.

Robert Kuhry is a philosopher in the existentialist tradition, concerned with the phenomenology of experience. His first book, Authenticity, was decidedly Heideggerian, but his new book, Awake in the Land of Dreams, is a departure from his pervious writing. It is narrative non-fiction which is lyrical and almost like reading a novel. It explores life in Monterey during the months after the 2001 9/11 attacks, thinking about how every city is a microcosm for the whole universe. To understand your place anywhere is to understand your place in the whole world.
