YAC Exhibit at Casa Gutierrez: Animated Antics

Artists from Youth Arts Collective take center stage in Animated Antics , an exhibit of their lively animated and illustrated work at Casa Gutierrez, 590 Calle Principal. The gallery is free and open to the public Saturdays and Sundays, 11am-4pm, through October 20.

Dive into worlds where anthropomorphic animals sport braces with style, H.G. Wells-inspired extraterrestrials crash land, love blossoms between a wolf and a deer, and more.

The November 5th Election Day is approaching. If you are a Monterey County resident, be sure your voter registration is up-to-date at voterstatus.sos.ca.gov . The last day to register to vote is October 21.

Need to register? Register online here! If you miss the deadline, you may still register and vote a conditional provisional ballot at the Monterey County Elections office up until Nov. 5 (at 1441 Schilling Place - North Building, Salinas).

Bamboo Reef Dive Shop presents a NAUI First Aid and CPR Class for ages 15+ at our Monterey shop on Tuesday, September 3, 6pm-10pm. Register on our website.

You'll learn how to perform CPR, use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and become familiar with the signs and symptoms associated with heart attacks and respiratory arrest.

Learn how to be to be self-sufficient and support others in a disaster until help can arrive! The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program provides community members with important skills that are essential in an emergency.

The next CERT training is scheduled in Downtown Old Monterey, 8am-5:30pm, on the following Saturdays: 9/21, 9/28, & 10/5. Training is free and open to all Monterey residents! Learn more here.

Sea Lions on San Carlos Beach - August 2024

You may have noticed there are a lot of sea lions at local beaches right now, including San Carlos Beach. Everyone, please remember to enjoy them from a good distance - they are large and can be territorial and unpredictable.

A reminder: all marine mammals, including sea lions, are protected under the Marine Mammal Protection Act. People who harass, feed, capture, or kill any marine mammal could face a hefty fine or even jail time. It's their bay too.

Join the City of Monterey in celebrating the opening of the Pat Hathaway Memorial Exhibition on Thursday, August 29, 5pm-7pm at Colton Hall Museum. Free and open to the public.

This exhibit celebrates the life and photo collection of the late Pat Hathaway, featuring historical images of Monterey, c.1870-1950, collected and preserved by Pat over the course of 50 years. The exhibit will run through Sept 29.
