About the Art Installation

The artwork being featured was made beginning in 2005 and ending 2010. Now displayed here at Simply Smashing as a retrospective, and is inspired by 1930's Art Deco and the popular colors in 1970's advertising.

The Artist's Method and Style:

Work is developed similar to stain glass method. Pencil drawings on 8'x 11" paper using drafting tools to create the frame work. Then image is scanned into editing software to refine lines and add color. Finally scaled up to print size and printed on paper or canvas using Archival Ink (ink that resists fading over time). Using lines, shapes, and repetition to creating radiant iconic images that pop out of jet black space. All works on display are one offs, no reprints, or copies will be made.

About Omar Barba:

Omar was born in Los Angeles, California where he studied and performed in live theatre. Moved to Bay Area in 2000 and started a visual journal that became this exhibit. Sometime in 2010 he tried his hand as performance artists ( where he played an Impala). Today (2013 to Present) his muse is music. Performing in a Celtic, Pirate, Rock Band ( O'Craven).
